How a new Marathon Gemini system turned a Southeast manufacturer's OCC into a profitable revenue stream
Hoosier Machinery Solutions sold and delivered a new Marathon Gemin horizontal baler to a manufacturing company in the Southeast as a complete turnkey project. HMS handled the full on-site scope: unloading the baler from the trailer, moving it into its final position, wiring and connecting the unit, initial start-up, and operator training.
This was a first-time HMS customer. The facility was generating close to 50 tons of old corrugated cardboard (OCC) every month and feeding all of it into a stationary compactor that their hauler removed for free. That arrangement was costing them twice. They were giving away a baled-cardboard revenue stream, and their team was burning labor hours moving carts across the plant to the compactor.
HMS started with a walk-through of the plant to study the OCC stream and look for savings beyond the equipment itself. The result was more than a baler recommendation. HMS consulted on the right machine for the facility’s material and volume, then designed the system around how the plant actually runs, including a baler location where employees could feed material without leaving their workstations. After the initial consultation, site visit, system design, and a turnkey proposal, the customer moved forward with a new Marathon Gemini horizontal baler.
The outcome turned a waste expense into income. The customer now captures a revenue stream from material they used to pay to handle, and HMS worked alongside them to calculate an ROI that projects into the hundreds of thousands of dollars over the life of the baler, all while cutting the labor that used to go toward feeding the old compactor.
Hoosier Machinery Solutions is more than an equipment supplier. We start by understanding your material and how your plant runs, then design a baling system that fits your space, your volume, and your workflow, and we deliver it turnkey from proposal through start-up and training. If your facility is paying to haul away cardboard or other recyclables, that waste is often a revenue stream waiting to be captured. Take a look at our new horizontal balers or reach out to the HMS team to size a system around your operation.
