From a Full Day to an Hour: A Refurbished Baler Infeed Conveyor

How a refurbished 72-inch Hustler baler infeed conveyor finished a repeat customer's Harris HRB-8 system

Refurbished baler infeed conveyor installed by HMS.

Project Overview

Hoosier Machinery Solutions completed a scrap metal recycler’s two ram baling system with a refurbished Hustler baler infeed conveyor, delivered turnkey. HMS matched the customer to a 72-inch wide steel-belt Hustler conveyor from our refurbishment inventory, rebuilt it in-house with a brand new steel belt, then handled the full on-site scope: rigging and unloading the conveyor, installation, start-up, and training the customer’s employees on operation and preventative maintenance.

This is a repeat customer whose growth HMS has supported at every step. It started when we sold them a refurbished horizontal manual tie baler for their nonferrous metals. As their volume climbed and they outgrew that machine, HMS sold and turnkey-installed a Harris HRB-8 two ram baler. The customer always knew a baler infeed conveyor would come next, so HMS kept that in mind when installing the two ram baler. A year and a half later, they were ready, and adding the conveyor completes the HRB-8 system exactly as planned.

Choosing the right conveyor was a matter of fit. HMS considered the customer’s site layout, the nonferrous materials they process, and their existing HRB-8 two ram baler, then matched them to a 72-inch wide Hustler infeed conveyor with a steel belt built to handle the material and volume. The conveyor went through a full refurbishment in our shop, including a brand new steel belt, before it ever reached the site.

The conveyor is up and running, and the payoff has been dramatic. The customer reported processing three trailers of aluminum cans in about an hour, work that used to take an entire day before the conveyor was in place. That is the difference consistent, mechanized feeding makes: higher throughput, better labor efficiency, and safer operations across the yard. As a refurbished machine, the conveyor is backed by the HMS 120-Day Parts & Labor Warranty.

Turnkey Service from HMS

A baler runs best when it is fed right. Hand-feeding a two ram baler leaves it waiting on material and your team doing the heavy lifting, while a baler infeed conveyor keeps the charge box consistently full so the machine cycles at its designed rate instead of stopping and starting. That steady feed is what turns a full day of work into an hour, the way it did here, and it lifts throughput while cutting labor and making the operation safer. Hoosier Machinery Solutions keeps an inventory of infeed conveyors that our team refurbishes in-house and matches to your material, your layout, and your existing baler, then installs turnkey and backs with our 120-Day Parts & Labor Warranty.
