Project Overview

Hoosier Machinery Solutions delivered a refurbished IBC AT-4843-840 horizontal auto tie baler to a manufacturer as a complete turnkey project. HMS matched the machine to the customer’s volume, material, and budget, completed a full in-house refurbishment, then handled the entire on-site scope: rigging and unloading the baler, installation, start-up, and training the customer’s employees on both operation and preventative maintenance.

This was a first-time HMS customer, drawn in by our refurbishment program. Their existing horizontal manual tie baler had become a liability. Reliability issues were piling up, parts were getting harder to source, and downtime was cutting into production. On top of solving the reliability problem, they wanted to capture the labor savings of stepping up from manual tie to auto tie.

HMS started by matching their specs to the right machine rather than pushing whatever was on the floor. Once the IBC AT-4843-840 was selected, it went through a full refurbishment in our shop covering all structural, hydraulic, electrical, and controls components. On the scheduling side, HMS timed the entire installation to land during a planned plant shutdown, so the changeover cost the customer essentially no production time.

The baler is up and running, and the customer is now enjoying the added capacity and the labor savings of an auto tie machine, with the sourcing headaches and downtime of the old manual tie baler behind them.
