Complete Reline of a Harris Badger Two Ram Baler

Project Overview

In February 2026, Hoosier Machinery Solutions completed a full two ram baler reline and structural rebuild of an 18-year old Harris Badger two ram baler. The project started the way every HMS service call should, with a thorough on-site inspection to determine whether the machine actually needed a reline before any work was quoted.

The customer had been fighting a baler that could no longer shear material cleanly. The poor shear was dragging down production and putting extra strain on the structural and hydraulic components with every cycle. Rather than guess, HMS used its inspection process to find the real causes instead of treating the symptoms.

The inspection found floor liners worn past 25 percent in both the gatherer and compression chambers, and both gatherer chamber walls bowed outward, which called for a subwall repair during the reline. From there, HMS carried out a complete rebuild: relining the chambers, repairing the subwalls, rebuilding the entire main ram, replacing both the shear knife and the ram knife, replacing the hold-down bars, repacking the main cylinder, and replacing all of the wear liners on the bale separation door. The result is an 18-year-old baler with chambers that are square and tight and components set back to factory tolerances, shearing cleanly again and running with far less strain on its structure and hydraulics.
